PowerScore.com – Ultimate Test Preparation

PowerScore.comWho is PowerScore.com?

PowerScore.com is a test preparation company founded in 1997 by an expert in the field with an extensive background in the test preparation industry.  Looking for a way to make test preparation easier, more effective, and less costly, he founded PowerScore.com with a mission “to empower individuals to reach their potential by increasing their educational and career opportunities.”  PowerScore.com currently offers live test preparation and graduate school admissions services online and in-person at locations throughout the U.S.

Who are the tutors and what are their qualifications?

Instructors at PowerScore.com have to meet high standards for both teaching capabilities and their proven ability to obtain the highest scores on the tests they teach.  All of PowerScore.com’s instructors “have officially scored in the 99th percentile on the LSAT, GMAT or GRE exam they teach, or 95th percentile if they teach SAT,” and include attorneys, university professors, high school teachers and graduates from Ivy League institutions.

What makes PowerScore.com different?

At PowerScore.com you can find a solution that meets your specific needs and fits your schedule. You can enroll in a full-length, weekend or virtual course, choose one-on-one tutoring or find admissions assistance.  In-person private tutoring is available for all subjects in major U.S. cities while one-on-one telephone tutoring is available from any location.  Their website also offers free resources for test help, information about the exams, and access to an “online student center” with course registration.

What is their guarantee?

Weekend GRE and GMAT courses can be repeated at no cost if classes are available, up to one year from the original date of enrollment.  LSAT courses can be repeated two times within the two years following the original course date, with payment of an administrative fee of $475 per repeat.  If for some reason you and a tutor don’t click, PowerScore.com will find another instructor for you.

How does PowerScore.com work?

Full-length and weekend courses can be found by searching by location and date, and students can register and pay online.  Instructors who are experts in the tests they teach use official test questions, proven techniques, and practice tests while providing email assistance, personal attention, and student support.

Virtual courses start every few weeks and consist of live online lessons covering test-taking concepts, strategies and techniques.  Students are provided with full-length practice tests, access to an online student center, and a free two-way headset to communicate with instructors and virtual classmates.

Tutoring hours can be purchased online, and an instructor will contact students within two business days from their request. The tutor will discuss strategies for effective learning and formulate an individualized plan to meet student’s specific needs and goals, whether it’s in-person instruction or telephone tutoring.

Admissions counselors will provide a questionnaire that students can answer in advance to determine a student’s needs, as well as schedule an initial consultation.  Sessions include discussion about the student’s application, essay, choice of schools, career advice, and any other questions they may have.
